The Ringweg Zuid Groningen project, designed by Syb van Breda & Co Architects, seamlessly integrates infrastructure, heritage, and art. This ambitious initiative at the national level transforms Groningen’s landscape by enhancing green spaces while celebrating the city’s historical identity. The architects skillfully balanced the demands of modern roadway design with the preservation of historical character, employing an innovative technique—Graphic Concrete to narrate Groningen's story.
From viaducts inspired by the city’s iconic brickwork to underpasses framed by lush greenery, the project marries practicality with visual appeal. The Graphic Concrete panels, adorned with images of significant historical moments offer a creative lens to connect with the city’s rich past.
