The NASA Aerospace Communications Facility brings together research laboratories that were located in seven different buildings.
The Near Field Range, an anechoic laboratory for testing antennas and antenna systems, is clad in a custom-designed concrete with graphic concrete technology full of scientific equations. The pattern helps to soften the scale of the 60-foot laboratory visually, creating an elegant backdrop for the adjacent outdoor amenity space.
The building has achieved LEED Gold certification and is designed to be Net Zero Energy Ready (NZER), incorporating energy-efficient features outlined in the Net Zero Energy Buildings Roadmap by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL).
